Dubai Courts has established its first inheritance department for Non-Muslims. This new department enables the registration and probate of wills, ensuring the fair distribution of assets according to the deceased’s own wishes.
The Dubai Courts’ initiative in setting up the inheritance department reflects its commitment to cultural diversity and its vision for an integrated and advanced service that meets the community’s needs and aspirations. It follows the issuance of the Civil Personal Status Law for Non-Muslims on 1 February 2023, providing a new method for estate distribution of Non-Muslim residents who pass away with or without a Will.
Please note that the Dubai Courts advise residents to update their Emirates ID details for seamless communication and legal proceedings, if necessary.
