Peter Breen has been with Heidrick & Struggles, London, since 1986. He is a partner and member of the EMEA CEO and Board Practice, focused on both executive and non-executive board positions, and is also Chairman of the Middle East Practice. Since 2006, he has invested time in the Arabian Gulf, being a founding co-partner, with McKinsey and then Allen & Overy and PwC, of the GCC Board Directors Institute.

Formerly  Peter was the founding managing partner of National Telephones PLC, one of the UK’s fastest growing telecoms suppliers and distributors, acquired by Alcatel in 1990.  His earlier career was in the technology arena with Plessey and ITT, culminating in his appointment as managing director of ITT Business Systems.

In Peter’s early years with Heidrick & Struggles, he worked primarily in the technology field. In 1988 he became the founding managing partner of Heidrick & Struggles’ International Technology Practice, with his search work ranging from pre-revenue start-ups to multi-billion dollar industry leaders.  In 1992 he became managing partner for the UK, continuing his activity in the technology vendor and user arenas, but broadening across the full spectrum of national and international board level search work.  In 1996, with Heidrick & Struggles ranking No.2 in the UK market place, he stepped down from his role in order to concentrate on client work.

Peter has a BA in Law from Southampton University, was for ten years a member of the Joint Executive Committee, a member of the elected Global Partnership Council and is the joint holder of the 2004 John E Struggles Partnership Award.
