Abdulrahman Addas

Abdulrahman Addas is currently an Executive Director of the Board of Asyad Holding, a multi-billion dollar famly-owned investment holding company with more than 40 years of experience in investments. Current area of focus include aviation, retail, energy, and real estate in partnership with select group of international companies such as Shell, Swissport, Petronas, Bulgari and others.

On June 14, 2018, the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, chaired by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, appointed Abdulrahman Addas as the founding Chief Executive Officer for the Royal Commission. In his 4 year tenure until May 2022, he was responsible for establishing the Royal Commission, developing and obtaining the approval by Royal Decree for its Law and Bylaws, developing and obtaining the approval for the Royal Commission strategy , launching its 12 strategic programs , designing and implementing its operating model, organizational structure, as well as the governance and collaboration model with the numerous incumbent government entities operating in Makkah City.

During his tenure , the Royal Commission launched several strategic initiatives in Makkah City such as:

- Launched the Central Management Office for Makkah City , a novelle platform to oversee and manage the complex coordination between the government entities in Makkah City, similar to the concept of a (City Council), that helped resolving more than SAR 30 billIon in delayed initiatives and projects.

- In February 2022, launched the first city public transportation service in Saudi Arabia in recent history with more than 1 million riderships in 2 months since launch (Makkah Transport), which won the Makkah Distinction Award for 2022, under the patronage of HRH Emir Of Makkah. At least 140 million riderships were served since launch and considered one of the fastest growing pubic bus service in the middle east and north africa.

- Launched and established Kidana Development Company, owned by the Royal Commission, to be the first ever in history the general master developer for the holy sites area with immediate investment of SAR 3 billion by the Saudi Government.

- Launched the development of key historical sites in Makkah City

- Completed the restructuring and commenced the redevelopment of key slums areas in Makkah City, generating new development projects with value in excess of SAR 11 billion

Before being appointed in the public sector in Saudi Arabia, Abdulrahman specialized in institutional and digital transformation, design and strategy management, as well as financial consultancy, real estate development and technology investment. He has worked with several large companies and government institutions in the Middle East, South Africa and Europe.

Abdulrahman was the Chief Corporate Development Officer at Majid Al-Futtaim Holding leading the organization’s corporate strategy and overseeing strategy alignment in all business units. He was responsible for designing and implementing the Advanced Analytics program at Majid Al Futtaim. He was also the Chairman of the group’s subsidiary in Saudi Arabia. He also led several investments as well as mergers and acquisitions that have proven instrumental in the overall development and innovation of the group’s operations and customer experience.

Previously, Abdulrahman worked for Goldman Sachs Group and Booz Allen Hamilton before becoming a partner at Bain & Company in the Middle East, leading its operations in Saudi Arabia. He was a key member of the global telecom, media and technology practice.

Abdulrahman is a certified Director of the Board and also holds two master’s degrees in business administration and electrical engineering from Stanford University in the US and graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran with a First Honors bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In addition, he has participated in numerous specialized training programs at Harvard Business School and INSEAD.
