Usman Ahmed was appointed as the Group CEO of the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) on January 1st, 2023. He has over 27 years of diverse international banking experience in emerging markets across the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to joining NBB, Usman held various senior leadership roles in Citigroup, including CEO and Executive Board Director of Citi Malaysia, Executive Chairman of Citigroup Global Markets Malaysia, CEO and Managing Director of Citi Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, and Global Head of Citi Islamic Banking. He also worked at Barclays Bank Plc. as the Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking for Emerging Markets. Usman has extensive experience in capital markets origination, strategy, client coverage, and Islamic financing transactions. He has served on various boards and associations in the banking industry.
