Jihad Hakamy
Governor
Jihad Hakamy is a distinguished legal executive with extensive experience in governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and projects. He currently serves as Vice President & Chief Counsel at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), overseeing legal operations across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions. In this role, he leads initiatives in governance, regulatory compliance, strategic transactions, and high-performance team development, supporting SABIC’s business objectives and global growth. His expertise spans corporate governance, commercial negotiations, and large-scale infrastructure projects. He successfully directed transactions totalling over $12 billion across multiple jurisdictions.
Prior to joining SABIC, Hakamy held positions at Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP and Hach Rose Schirripa & Cheverie, LLP, where he gained extensive experience in commercial, technology, and complex litigation matters. Before transitioning into law, he worked as a Field Engineer at General Electric, managing the installation and commissioning of power plants across the USA, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
Hakamy holds a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, a Master of International Business from Florida International University, and a Bachelor of Engineering Science from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
