Steffen Schubert

Mr. Schubert is the owner and CEO of ANAPIX Capital Ltd. He consults companies and capital markets on strategy and specifically on corporate governance matters. He also serves as non executive director on company boards.

Previously Mr. Schubert held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai International Financial Exchange, DIFX (now NASDAQ-Dubai), were he created a complete capital market structure (Stock Exchange, Clearing House, Central Counterparty, Settlement Organisation and Registry) from the first concept in 2001 to realization within the framework of the Dubai International Financial Centre, DIFC.

As Chief Executive Officer of the first true Pan-European Stock Exchange EASDAQ he led the firm from a nascent, semi-automated market structure and built a fully electronic stock exchange environment which he transitioned into NASDAQ-Europe. Preceding EASDAQ he was Managing Director of the Bavarian Stock Exchange in Munich, Germany.

Before managing exchanges Mr. Schubert held various senior positions in companies providing systems and services for the banking and exchange industry worldwide. In Siemens he was responsible worldwide for marketing the banking system portfolio; in OM Systems International (now part of NASDAQ-OMX) he led the Marketing and Sales efforts to become the most successful trading and clearing system provider for derivative exchanges, and as Managing Director of the financial information vendor Bridge Information Systems he set-up the company's business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

During his years in the financial industry Mr. Schubert advised or worked inter alios with OM Stockholm, American Stock Exchange, Italian Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Futures Exchange, Kuala Lumpur Financial Future Exchange, European Option Exchange, Korean Financial Futures Exchange, Swiss Stock Exchange, NYSE, Deutsche Börse, ISE- International Securities Exchange and EuroNext.

Preceding the introduction of the WorldWideWeb he published a book in 1986 on searches in online databases using Personal Computers. He is a trained banker from Germany and he read engineering, business and administration at the universities of Darmstadt and Frankfurt in Germany. He is fluent in English and German and lives in Germany and the UAE.

Specific corporate governance experience: Over the past twenty-two years he served on over a dozen boards in the Middle East, Europe and the US in private and in public, regulated and unregulated companies in various industry sectors ranging from I/T and engineering to media and Islamic finance. He publicly supported the introduction of modern governance in capital market listing rules and in companies since his first tenor as a stock exchange CEO. At EASDAQ the Corporate Governance framework, which was introduced into the listing rules by our exchange, was credited by the OECD at that time as the most comprehensive of all equity markets and became a benchmark for other markets to follow.

He is also a member of various corporate director institutions and holds a Chartered Director Diploma of the Institute of Directors (IOD) in the UK.
