GCC Board Directors Institute is a not-for-profit organization, registered in the Dubai International Financial Centre, founded in 2007 by a combination of large corporations and professional advisory firms: Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Investcorp, Emirates NBD, McKinsey & Company, Heidrick & Struggles, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Allen & Overy.
We also benefit from the support of regional regulatory authorities: the Central Bank of Bahrain, the Capital Market Authority of Saudi Arabia, the Capital Market Authority of Oman, the Securities and Commodities Authority of the UAE and the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority.

First Chairman of GCC Board Directors Institute (2007-2010)
H.E Eng Abdullatif Al-Othman
H.E. Eng. Abdullatif Al-Othman served as the Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) after his appointment from May 2012 till April 2016. He brings over 35 years of experience of planning and managing oil and gas projects, Corporate Finance, Investment, Business Development and International Business Relations. H.E. Al-Othman began his career in 1979 with Saudi Arabian Bechtel, then joined Saudi Aramco in 1981 as an Engineer in Engineering and Project Management. During his tenure, he worked on the Gas Gathering Project, the Ras Tanura Refinery Modernization Project, the Qasim Refinery Project, and the Southwest Refinery Project, amongst others. In June 2001, he was named the Executive Director of Saudi Aramco Affairs before being appointed Vice President of Saudi Aramco Affairs in September 2001. He later served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Saudi Aramco. His last post at Saudi Aramco was Senior Vice President Engineering and Project Management. Eng. Al-Othman also served as the founding Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Investment Company for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, as well as the Sadara Chemical Company. He is currently also the founding chairman of the Board for the Saudi Industrial Investment Company. Eng. Al-Othman earned a B.A. in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1979 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow in 1998.
Second Chairman of GCC Board Directors Institute (2010-2014)
Mohammad Al-Ali took over as GCC BDI’s second Chairman from September 2010 until April 2014. At that time he was the Senior Vice President, Finance of Saudi Aramco. Mohammad has over 40 years’ experience of finance and accounting experience including responsibilities for Saudi Aramco’s global accounting activities and financial controls, managing corporate financial records, and developing and maintaining programs to assist management in monitoring and evaluating corporate performance. His experience also includes membership on boards of directors for a variety of Saudi Aramco subsidiary and joint venture entities responsible for shipping, refining, petrochemicals and sales and marketing activities. Mr. Al-Ali earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Denver University.

Mutlaq Al Morished
Mutlaq H. Al-Morished is the Chief Executive Officer of TASNEE. Prior to his current role Mr. Al-Morished was the Vice President of Corporate Finance (CFO) at SABIC. Previously, he was Vice President of Shared Services, President of SADAF and HADEED, consecutively. In addition, Mr. Al-Morished also sits on the Board/Executive Committees of SABIC R&T, ALBA (Bahrain), Saudi Fund for Development and The Girls’ College in Jubail. He is Chairman of the Board of YANSAB and KAYAN. Al-Morished holds an MBA degree from Stanford University, a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from Princeton University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Physics & Mathematics from the University of Denver.

Mohammed Al Shroogi
Mohammed Al-Shroogi is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of the global investment group, Investcorp.
Mohammed Al-Shroogi joined Investcorp in 2009 as President of Gulf Business, he was responsible for the overall Investcorp activities in the Gulf region. Mohammed was appointed as Co–Chief Executive Officer effective from July 2015. Mohammed joined Investcorp from Citigroup where he was Division Executive for the Middle East and North Africa region and CEO for the United Arab Emirates. Mohammed had a 30 year career with Citigroup in Bahrain, London and the UAE. Amongst his many achievements at Citigroup was establishing Citibank Bahrain as a major trading room between Asia and Europe. Mohammed holds a BA in Commerce from Kuwait University and attended the Executive Program at Harvard Business School. He is a Member of the Board of Trustees at Bahrain University, a Member of the Board of the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the GCC Board Directors Institute.
